Individual virtual consultations for musicians

Get back to the music.

Dear Musician,

If you’ve found yourself here, you may be struggling with pain or an injury that is getting in the way of you playing. Whether it is something you’ve been dealing with for years or the last few weeks, dealing with pain and injury as a musician can leave you feeling lost, frustrated, and not sure where to turn for help. Music isn’t just what you do—it’s who you are.

Know this: You are not alone and you’re in the right place.

Sound Familiar?

General advice from well-meaning friends, the internet, and unfortunately, even some medical professionals, can only get you so far. Playing an instrument is a highly technical skill and each instrument requires its own unique challenges.

Most doctors and rehab professionals simply don’t understand the physical demands involved or appreciate how closely tied music is our identity. “Just stop playing for a while” isn’t a practical solution for most musicians.

“Just stop playing for two weeks, let it rest, take some ibuprofen and you should be fine.” - a doctor

“Just do more stretches and hopefully it will go away.” - a well-meaning friend

“Relax more when you play and make your warm-up longer and more gradual.” - a qualified music instructor

“I hate to say it dude, but some of us just have to learn to live with the pain and push through it.” - actual reddit comment
